Peace, Justice and Development
Our Understanding of:

Justice and Peace
PEACE
CACPD defines peace as a state of harmony between an individual and God(Horizontal dimension), between an individual and fellow human beings(vertical dimension), and also between people and the natural environment.  According to Saint Augustine, a respected father of the church and from North African origin, peace is defined as “the tranquility of order”.
Peace
JUSTICE
CACPD defines Justice as a recognition of wrong doing and a commitment to reparation and restoration.
Justice
DEVELOPMENT
CACPD defines development in terms of the capacity of individuals (local communities) to make choices which allow them to better their quality of life.  Quality of life, in this approach, includes non-material benefits such as political freedoms, equal opportunities and improved environmental and institutional sustainability.
